Bydx Microsoft, Nokia plan mobile Office deal_340

March 9th, 2010

Microsoft is looking for ways to strengthen its Office franchise into one that maintains its relevance and market share even as the PC becomes just one of many devices people use to access their information. Office is also vital to Microsoft’s fiscal health, with much of the company’s profits still coming from Windows and Office.

Microsoft released a technology preview of the PC-based Office 2010 applications in July, although it has yet to start publicly testing the browser-based versions. The final version of Office 2010 is due next year.

Although Nokia and Microsoft have long been rivals in the phone business, the two have also struck deals at times. Nokia already has a license that allows its phones to connect to Exchange Servers using Microsoft’s ActiveSync protocol. In 2007, Microsoft also struck a deal with Nokia to have Windows Live services run on the Finnish company’s phones.

The deal comes even as Microsoft is trying to figure out how to keep its Windows Mobile operating system in the game amid stiff competition from Nokia in Europe as well as Apple’s iPhone, RIM’s BlackBerry, and an emerging threat from devices running Google’s Android operating system.

On the phone side, Microsoft has shown the ability for Office 2010 documents to be displayed on a variety of mobile phones. So far, the only phones that have their own native versions of Office have been those running Microsoft’s Windows Mobile software.

Expanding Office to other mobile devices may help that business, but at the same time takes away one of the areas where Windows Mobile had a leg up on rivals–its direct compatibility with Office.

Latest update of my life

The company is located in Nanhai district, Foshan, Guangdong.??Nanhai is a nice place to both live and work in.??I cannot say ill of it, nor could I undermine its value that it deserves.??The diversity in my company isn’t so conspicuous.??Of the total,?say, natives from Foshan account for as many as 60% – a staggeringly high portion.

?The company is located in Nanhai with a nice environment.??It brightens my day with the fresh air and verdant trees alongside the roads.?? One thing, much to my disappointment, is that the dorm locates in Chancheng district, which is a dirty place.??Sickeningly dirty.?? 5 cities – Nanhai, Sanshui, Shunde, Gaoming, and the original Foshan, merged into one big city of Foshan in Year 2003. Each county level city becomes a district, under the governance of new Foshan, while the original Foshan city changed its name into Chancheng district, in aims to clearly clarify the original Foshan, the county level city and the New Foshan city with 5 districts.

My dorm is way far away from my company.??I took bus 140 to transfer to and fro the company and the dorm.??Frankly speaking, it was quite adistance between the dorm and the company.??It took me 25 minutes by bus.??Guangzhou’s traffic problem takes no beating.??In this matter, Foshan is a lot better, with less traffic and far less residents, permanent and temporary.?? In the case of Guangzhou, it would take 2 times as many to go through the same distance.?? You might be misled to think that it is a lot easier in Foshan than in Guangzhou to take buses.?? But, that’s only one tip of the iceberg and my suggestion is that never come down to conclusions too early by some very superficial phenomenon.??The one thing that matters most is that it just annoyingly takes more time to wait in line for the bus to come than it takes to commute to the company.??This one issue alone, I think, reflects a city’s poor management skills.?? The city is not providing convenience possible, but creating problems incessantly.? What an agitation!

If you’re looking for a more rugged boot look for the Suburb Crochet Tall, which easily could have been made by your friendly neighborhood Grandma-biker gang.? Last, but certainly not least are the Sweater Knit Scuffette and Sweater Knit Scufette Stripe slippers. For some reason the striped slippers make me think of Harry Potter, with their striped Gryffindor scarves as they play Quidditch! Maybe these slippers will get you your own little taste of magic…the magic of comfy toes!

Knitting for UGGs

I’ve decided that today is a day to celebrate knitting. It’s August, getting close to scarf weather, and UGG has a such a cute array of knitted boots and slippers! There is, of course, the Classic Cardy in the simple basic knit, the boot we know and love. But now UGG now offers the Classic Argyle Knit boot, with an argyle pattern knitted into the shoe itself! ( I don’t know about you, but I consider argyle to be one of the best patterns to ever grace a sock, shoe, or coat.)

???? Classes sign up to make observations and report them to the Journey North site. Their reports become part of the data pool that shows them how seasonal changes move across the Northern Hemisphere. They can follow the guidelines to plant a tulip bed in fall and track their emergence and bloom in spring. The guidelines are necessary so that good generalizations can be made. A school in New Jersey that has three tulip beds in three locations, reported that the Journey North bed emerged a full fifteen days after the other two. It became a weekly challenge question on the Journey North site to speculate why that might have happened. Why do you think it did?

???? Those of us who are not actively involved in education can visit the site and follow the course of the seasons based on the observations of school children all over north America. Find out where the Monarch butterflies are this week on their move to the North. Whose tulips have bloomed and whose are budding? Where was the first worm sited this spring?

? One of my favorite sites on the Web is Journey North. The site is based here in Minneapolis and just won a Webby award, the Oscar of the Internet, for excellence as an educational site. The thing I like about it is how it has evolved since it has been on the Web. Originally designed to help students understand and become involved in the migration of birds, it has come to include the phenology of more than just birds. In case that word is new to you, phenology is “the study of periodic biological phenomena in relation to climate, particularly seasonal changes. Phenological events, or stages of plant growth, serve as bases for the analysis of local seasons and climatic zones.

??? I’m most excited about making my own phenology log now. The Journey North site tracks leaf out and has students adopt a tree in their environment to be the test case. I will probably use the cranberry viburnum in my yard instead of a tree, because all mine are too tall for me to be able to tell when the leaves are the size of a quarter. Journey North participants use their tulips for early markers, I will use my Iris reticulata. They are always up first in my yard. Then I will watch the honeylocust tree for late leaf out. It always comes last. Seasonal cues guided the lives of Native Americans before the Europeans arrived with their clocks and calendars. In the zone 6 area I left, settlers had learned from them to use the white oak as the marker for planting their corn. It was to be done when the oak leaves were the size of a mouse’s ear.

I picked some of it from the bunch,it gave out a smell of medicine, true,it’s medicine,it’ “Chinese Traditional Medicine”! So it smelled like that,no wonder at all! After cleaning them in clear water,I clipped them into halves and then let my father do the rest of the work.He put them in a wok and poured an appropriate amount of cold water into it,switched the fire on.Finished? No,that’s far from the end? It needed careful supervision during the process, such as fire on and fire off for several times.

An IRS press release stated that 4,450 accounts held by rich American investors were included in the settlement.

A UBS spokeswoman would not comment on the value of the accounts and referred questions to a company press release. In the release, UBS Chairman Kaspar Villiger said the settlement “helps to resolve one of UBS’ most pressing issues.”

“Thousands of taxpayers who avoided paying taxes in the past are being brought into compliance,” said IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman in a teleconference with reporters. “As this agreement demonstrates, the world of international taxes has drastically changed.”

Shulman said investors who evaded taxes through UBS can avoid prosecution by reporting their tax activity by the Sept. 23 voluntary disclosure deadline, so long as they meet certain requirements.

Deterrent: The announcement is the result of a settlement that the IRS and Switzerland-based UBS reached earlier this month to track down and identify wealthy Americans who have avoided paying taxes by hiding their assets in offshore accounts. Shulman said the deal should deter Americans from evading taxes in the future.

In the teleconference, Shulman said the IRS expects to gain access to a total of more than 5,000 UBS (UBS) accounts, through the IRS-UBS settlement, combined with a voluntary disclosure program and “other sources.” He said these accounts have held $18 billion in assets at one time, though he did not have a current tally for their value.

“I am confident that the agreement will allow the bank to continue moving forward to rebuild its reputation through solid performance and client service,” said Villiger. “UBS welcomes the fact that the information-exchange objectives of the settlement can be achieved in a lawful manner under the existing treaty framework between Switzerland and the United States.”

Is replacing a CV boot expensive

    Answer

If you are talking about just the boot, and not the whole CV Joint (Axle), then no it’s not that expensive. The boot itself should be under $50 depending on your make and model of vehicle, and the labor, even at a dealership should not be all that bad. You can call your local dealership and get a price over the phone.

Now if you need the whole thing, CV Joint, that can be expensive depending a lot on the vehicle. I had a Z-71 Silverado and the dealership wanted almost $1000.00 to replace the CV joint on it. After doing a little research I found out that most of the money for the repair was for the part itself. So I bought an aftermarket CV joint from Carquest for under $100.00 and had the dealership install it using my part from Carquest. The total bill was under $200.00. Hope this helps.
